A well-established hard rocking five piece, hailing form Dublin's north side, LIR are one of the best live acts you are ever likely to see. Their gigs in Dublin club, Whelans, have become legendary. Seasoned over hugely ambitious US tours, the excitement of the live LIR experience is not to be missed. LIR currently have two albums in the bag Magico, Magico and Nest, both of which will available to buy here on 1969 Records very soon, so keep an eye out for that. There is also talk of an plethora of unreleased material recently unearthed by the band, so there is plenty going on in LiRLand at the moment.
Before that however LIR release their new album 'LIR LIVE' on 1969 Records on Oct 3. Recorded over 2 nights in Vicar Street and Whelans ,Dublin, the album has 17 hard rocking tracks showcasing the band at it's strongest and most inspired. Following on October 4 is a showcase & signing at Tower Records Dublin at 1pm, followed by a special concert at Whelans that night to celebrate the bands first album in 13 years. The Whelans gig will be filmed as part of an ongoing documentary which has been commissioned about LIR, Shimmy Marcus (Headrush) is helming it, and it promises to be a fascinating study of a band who in spite of many ups and downs remain great friends and still committed to the songs and the music. Watch for that in early 2009.
